I had some really lofty plans this week for the blog. Idea one was a new drink recipe using the Pink Starburst drink packets I recently got hooked on. Recipe one was supposed to be a slushy type drink that ended up being an icy mess, and recipe two ended up looking like a science experiment. Needless to say, I’m just drinking my Pink Starburst drink packets in a bottle of plain ol’ water and I don’t intend to get more ambitious than that.
My next plan was an actual meal recipe. Not a coffee recipe, not a dessert recipe, but an actual meal. I had my recipe thought up and I gave it a go thinking it would be a real winner. The final result led to me telling my boyfriend he didn’t have to eat it and crying to him and mom that I was going to be an awful wife someday and he would spend his life eating leftovers at my mom’s house. Since I’m blessed to be surrounded by the sweetest people in the world, they both assured me that it would be totally okay if I mess up dinner and mom feeds us eternally. I guess I’ll bring dessert!
I do have my fair share of cooking triumphs, but they are usually fairly simple meals and they are somebody else’s recipe. While my boyfriend has offered to do most of our cooking for our future lives together, I want to be able to be a decent cook too. I’m no chef, but I have mastered some small recipes and discovered that I do my best work in the slow cooker. Tomorrow, when I attempt to make my love dinner again, I’m using a tortellini tomato soup recipe from the amazing blog Plain Chicken. If you struggle with cooking, I highly recommend starting there! The recipes are simple, affordable to make, and they turn out really tasty. Even for me. http://plainchicken.com
Since it wasn’t my week for creating something original, I decided to do a beauty product review on a product that has truly changed my hair life. I like to compare my hair and make up skills to my cooking and baking skills. I LOVE to do makeup and I love to try new things, and they usually turn out pretty awesome, kind of like baking. When it comes to hair, I like to have a nice hairstyle, but I don’t like to spend too much time with my hair and I don’t tend to have a natural knack for it, kind of like cooking. If a product truly makes hair management easier and less time consuming, I’m all for it!
While I’ve tried all sorts of hair products, very few do I ever purchase again. I admittedly spend quite a bit of money on good makeup and I feel I get my money’s worth on it, but I seldom feel the same about hair products. This is one of the most expensive hair products I have ever purchased and I am so blown away by it that I intend to make it a regular purchase. I have tried other brands to see what compares to this, but so far, nothing has quite measured up. If you’re looking for world’s best dry shampoo, look no further!

I only shampoo my hair twice a week. I use ammonia free black box dye (I saw that cringe) and I find that the less you shampoo, the better your color stays. I also love being able to skip this shampoo step, which can be hard when you have fine hair like I do. The Dry Bar company is famous for doing a style called a “blowout” and when you get this done, you usually keep it for a few days. It would make sense that a company like this would have the best dry shampoo ever. I can truly say that my hair looks better after I use this than on the day it’s freshly washed.
Another plus is the scent. It smells so amazing! They have two other scents, but I have only tried the original so far and I am hooked. It has a very rich scent, not fake or soapy. It just smells clean and rich. If they ever made a perfume to go with it, I would probably buy a bottle or two. Oh and I forgot to mention that once you work it in, it doesn’t leave a residue, even on my dark hair. Even on days when I’m active, it turns my sweaty mop into a wavy wonder. The only downside to this is the price.
If you decide to purchase this from the site, its $23 for a 3.5oz. bottle, which is pretty pricey for a dry shampoo, but trust me on this, it will replace so many of your other hair products and it will save you so much time. Another plus is a little bit goes a long way. I tried a good drugstore brand of dry shampoo after this and I felt like I was spraying half the bottle into my hair to get results that weren’t nearly as good as a few sprays of this.

Since having all this extra time on my hands, I’ve taken to braiding my hair more often and in different ways. I’m by no means a master at it, but it’s probably the fanciest thing I can do with hair. I’ve gotten the three side braids down to under 20 minutes, but since I don’t love doing hair, I usually expect to keep them in for at least a couple days. I do get a few flyaways from sleeping on them, but this dry shampoo keeps my hair oil free, looking healthy, and smelling amazing until I decide I’m ready to redo my braids….which could be awhile.

P. S. Just a reminder to watch for sales! When I find a product I love that will keep for a good amount of time, I like to watch for sales and try to stock up. Some of the major holidays are good times to look out for sales. Also, check beauty stores such as Sephora and Ulta that sell this brand. They have their own sales a few times a year where you can snag this product, and MANY others, at a discount. Hope you have a great hair day!
