The obsession continues! The only thing I love more than coffee is chicory coffee. That amazing New Orleans tradition that I was lucky to discover. I was also lucky to discover that I can combine my love of coffee with my love of dogs. Amazing coffee companies such as Grounds & Hounds and Puppy & Paws donate a portion of their proceeds to dog rescue. The coffee from both companies is delicious and sustainably sourced as well so I find myself ordering from both quite frequently.
Knowing that Puppy & Paws was based out of NOLA, I messaged them asking if they were going to carry the chicory coffee that NOLA is famous for and it turned out they were in the process of acquiring it. I was so excited they were going to send me samples! If my boyfriend and I are going to spend money acquiring chicory coffee, we wanted to support pups in the process.
I was truly touched when I opened the package. Along with two samples, I also received some treats for our puppies and these precious cards. Each order you place includes treats for your canine pal. I think the girls are going to love getting coffee in the mail as much as I do!
The first thing I did was put some on to cold brew. The next thing I did was to make a nice hot cup. I love chicory coffee with a little cream and I usually don’t drink it black. I noticed right away that this wasn’t as dark as the Cafe Du Monde that I often drink hot. It had the smooth, chocolatey taste that I associate with chicory, but it was also more mellow. I liked the softer flavor and I couldn’t wait until the cold brew was ready.
The cold brew was also fantastic! I made this in my signature style with condensed milk and one packet of sweetener. It’s actually hard to say which way I prefer it, which is the mark of a great coffee for me since I go back and forth with hot and cold coffee, sometimes daily.
I really appreciated the samples so much and I am really excited to order some more. I think next month is the last month of my coffee gift subscription so I am going to be needing more soon and this is definitely going to be my next coffee purchase. The fact that they sell it in ground and whole bean is another major plus for me. The grind it comes in is awesome for my Ninja Coffee maker or cold brewing, for those days when I want to coffee to be ready before I am, and the whole bean will be nice for doing different grinds for my Aeropress and Chemex.
If you haven’t tried chicory coffee before, this one would be an awesome place to start since it’s mellow and smooth. I’ve tried many of their other coffees too and I have been super impressed. Even their flavored varieties have a natural, light flavor that is hard to find in a flavored coffee. I am super picky when it comes to flavored coffee and this is one of the few places I will order from.
