About the only trends I try to keep up with are the coffee trends. Occasionally, there is one I just can’t get on board with, but I usually eventually wear down. After trying the Vanilla Coffee Coke 0, I thought maybe I could try the coffee soda trend. It’s exactly what you think. It’s coffee, with carbonated water added. I have seen it on various sites and it looked really cool, but I just didn’t know if I could take my coffee carbonated. While I enjoyed the Coffee Coke okay, I won’t be going out to buy a case. I feel the same way about this recipe, but it was something new and fun. If you’re looking for a new coffee experience, you might enjoy this and become one of the fans, or at least say you tried something new.

You can use club soda, but since I like my iced coffee a bit sweet, I went the tonic water route. This is definitely a drink I wouldn’t want to drink unsweetened, but I have this weird thing about iced coffee. I love it, but unlike hot coffee that I can drink pretty plain, I need both cream and sugar in my iced coffee. I try and try, yet I fail and add cream about every time. This time ended up being no exception.
It looks so cool in that glass! I used my tablespoon of Jot, which I totally recommend for this recipe. Cold Brew would work too, but using that tablespoon of concentrate for the whole glass was perfect! As pretty as it looked, I couldn’t wait to taste this unusual creation. I don’t even know how to explain my first impression. I think my brain was getting over the shock of tasting the strong, distinctive coffee flavor while enjoying the light carbonated mouthfeel. I had a feeling I knew what it was missing……

Yeah, that’s right, I added creamer! Iced coffee is iced coffee, even if it’s sweetly carbonated. I decided to add my usual 2 tablespoons of creamer and see what happened. It was much better! Still very odd, but definitely good. And still pretty to look at might I add.
After finishing the glass, I can say that I’m really glad I tried it, I had fun, but I probably won’t be adding it to my normal coffee rotation. I thought it might be good for when I’m on a car ride and I get slightly nauseous. Carbonated drinks usually help, but sometimes I just want coffee. I think this might be a good compromise. Although I probably won’t be trying it again until I have a car ride that I need both caffeination and carbonation for.

If you want to switch up your coffee routine, go ahead and try this and let me know what you think! If you have a little addition that makes it even better, please share!
