To be completely honest with you, I had no idea what I was going to blog about today. I had grand plans of a recipe, but it never got made, and due to the holidays and a few extenuating circumstances, my week has been wild with no chances of slowing down. The good news is I will need some serious coffee and I will also have some cooking to do so my normal blogging will resume shortly, but in the meantime, here’s the last impulsive thing I did that I don’t totally regret.

I have a slightly bad history of seeing fabulous characters I like on TV and thinking “That haircut makes them look so fabulous, it will make me look fabulous too!” Last time I thought this, I was incredibly wrong.
I was 14 and I had seen some character on Disney with a beautiful pixie cut. She had grown out her hair in later episodes and I thought she looked even better with the pixie cut. I had had extra long hair all my life and I begged and begged my mom to cut it. After about a year, she finally broke and let me cut all my hair off. It was awful. I don’t have any pictures to share and I am so thankful for that. If I found one, I would probably burn it. I tried everything I could to make my hair grow faster and swore I was never going to cut it again.
You would think I had learned my lesson but I didn’t. I did cut my hair eventually but not very short. I kept it on the longer side until I started watching iZombie. Once again, I became obsessed with her style and hair. I started by doing similar makeup, which looked killer with my green eyes, and then I started incorporating some elements of the fashion. Before I knew it, I was wanting the haircut. Not the pale blond color, just the cut.
Honestly, I couldn’t be happier that I did it. I’ve done all kinds of things with my hair and I have to say, this is probably my absolute favorite. I think the coolest part was that I felt confident enough to take pictures without makeup! That’s something I very seldom do, and for me, it’s the mark of a great haircut.
My advice if you’re wanting to try something new is to think it through before you try it, but don’t hold back. Things like hair always grow back (even if it takes an eternity) and I’m so glad to know what works for me and what doesn’t.
One of my next hair desires is dreadlocks. Why? I have no idea where the idea came from- I’ve just always loved them. Will I do them? Maybe, maybe not, but I can guarantee that whatever I do, I’m going to have fun trying new things with style until my last day here, and of course, I’m going to blog about it!
