If you’re a beauty lover like me, you’ve probably stumbled across rainbow highlighter. Although many copycats are out there now, the original rainbow highlighter was “Prism” by an independent brand called Bitter Lace Beauty. I started following them on social media and they exploded with tons of other awesome (and cruelty-free!!) products. After a year of eyeing their fabulous shimmery wares, I decided to take advantage of their awesome labor day sale and finally try their products.
Narrowing it down was so hard! I wanted to buy almost everything I saw since I’m pretty obsessed with highlighter but I narrowed it down to 4 highlighters and their wickedly gorgeous customizable palette, appropriately called Black Magic.

When the box got to my mailbox, I couldn’t wait to tear into it! And I had to do a lot of tearing because they packaged it super duper well. Make-up is delicate and I can tell they took pains to ensure that their products arrived fully intact. I also give them an A+ on packaging in general. Their packaging impressed me because it’s the quality I expect from big name high end brands and this lovely little independent company blew me away with their professional packaging.
As we revel in the joy of receiving well-packaged goods, it becomes evident that packaging extends beyond mere functionality. It becomes an embodiment of care, dedication, and the art of preserving the essence within. The careful considerations that are put into securing delicate items, such as makeup, resonate deeply with the ethos of responsible packaging. Just as a captivating unboxing experience captivates our senses, it’s also an opportunity to reflect on the choices we make as consumers.
In this realm, eliter-packaging.con stands as a beacon of innovation, inviting us to explore packaging solutions that align with our desire for both delight and ecological consciousness. The attention given to packaging by this independent company underscores the transformative power that thoughtful presentation can wield. So, let us continue to appreciate and seek out packaging that not only protects and enchants but also embraces sustainability at its core.

I had a hard time taking pictures because I literally could not wait to pop them into the Black Magic palette. I own several palettes that are beautifully designed, but most are simply nice. This palette is incredible. It is possibly the most beautiful case I own. I know casing is just casing and it doesn’t matter as much as the product inside, but I still love looking at this. You can tell by the weight of it that it’s extremely well made too. Before I even got to try the products, everything surrounding them exuded quality.
I was going to wait until morning to try the products since I didn’t get my package until after work, but I couldn’t resist playing a little bit. Part of the deal was getting a free Moonbow highlighter with a $50 purchase, so I decided that I would give that a shot first since I was a little skeptical about it. I wear crazy highlighter but rainbow is a new plunge for me and the Moonbow looked awfully dark to be a highlighter. After taking my makeup off, I took a wide brush that covered the whole palette and I did a slow, firm swipe across all of the colors. I ran the brush across my cheekbone and I admittedly frowned at the results. The blue and the purple turned out looking like a black bruise on my face. The other colors looked good, but it definitely wasn’t the effect I was going for. I tried a couple different times, but my results were never what I was wanting. I wouldn’t own Moonbow if it wasn’t for the fact that it came free with my purchase, but the colors are nice individually and I liked the feel of the product. I will be using and enjoying it as an eyeshadow and I think I’ll stick with Prism for a rainbow highlight.

As for the other products, I waited until morning to try those and I am thrilled with my results! In addition to Prism, I purchased Bloodlust, Rewrite the Stars, and Romantic Rose. I used Rewrite the Stars as highlighter around my whole eye area. For some reason, I’ve been applying my highlighter in an eye mask shape recently. It brings my whole entire eye area forward and I really like the extreme effect. For my eyes, I used Bloodlust in the crease and I brought it down underneath my eye and smudged it with a crease brush. I patted Romantic Rose on my eyelid and I blended everything out with Rewrite the Stars. The effect was lovely and the pigment of the product was spot on. Everything glided on nicely and the shimmer finish was just what I was looking for.

I plan to buy from this company in the future and hopefully fill that palette up. I have room for a dozen highlighters in there! The only thing that’s really holding me back is the cost of shipping. These products are on the pricier side already, but I have to say that they are worth it. I bought them on sale and I had been saving for them for some time so that’s why I was able to purchase so much, but the shipping cost really got me. Shipping is free if you spend $100 or more, so I put $100 worth of product in my cart (even after the discount) and it was still going to charge me $14.90 for shipping. Since I wasn’t sure on the last product and it was going to charge me shipping either way, I just removed it from my cart and spent just under $100, crazy shipping cost included. The shipping is calculated by how much you have in the cart, so if you only buy one $20 product, shipping goes down to about $5. I haven’t spent over $10 for shipping no matter what so I was still a bit surprised.
It may be just me because high shipping costs are my pet peeve, but there are a couple of company’s I would buy from WAY more often if they didn’t have unusually high shipping costs. I understand it costs to ship, as I myself have shipped things before, but this is the most shipping I have ever paid for anything in the United States, and while I love the products, you spend the price of a whole extra product on shipping alone in some cases and I’m just not willing to do that very often, even for a wonderful product. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for sales and free shipping deals though.
All in all, I would recommend the product if you are someone who likes unusual highlighters and eyeshadows. The ideas she comes up with are spectacular and the quality is as well. Follow their social media and keep your eyes open for their sales. I really think you’ll love this product.
