When I first got into playing with makeup as a preteen, I was eye makeup all the way! Not a whole lot has changed in the years since then. I went through my foundation faze when my face went through its acne faze, but as soon as it cleared up, I was more than happy to forgo foundation and stick with my eye makeup. The only non-eye makeup product that has stuck is highlighter. I don’t know when I got into “the glow,” but all of a sudden, I had a serious cache of highlighters that I cycle through on a regular basis. These are a few of my personal faves for a mega-watt glow!

These are the Touch a la Mode luminizers from Younique. They offer a shade for every skin tone, but the white shimmer on the left is my go to. It’s called “Iridescent” and it leaves the faintest hint of frosty shimmer wherever you apply it. They offer the same shades in a powder, but I prefer the cream stick in this one. While I like to use powder luminizers as eyeshadows, I like to use cream to powder sticks as a lipstick. Each of these colors looks stunning on the lips! This is a true multi tasker that I’m so glad I found. https://www.youniqueproducts.com/AliciaLeVesque/products/view/US-27002-00#.XKOQHdhOncs

Okay, so I almost feel bad including this one but it is a true favorite. This is also from Younique, but it was only available for one day during a yearly promotion they have. It’s a holographic luminizer and lip gloss duo, both of which can be found in my purse currently. I’m not going to go on about the lip gloss since this is a highlighter post, but let’s just say I am thrilled with it. The luminizer is pretty much my dream come true. I adore purple and most holographic products have a lavender sheen to them. I know holographic can be a scary word to some, but it isn’t so extreme that you’d look like an intergalactic disco queen. It imparts a subtle glow and it looks great on all skin tones. If they ever bring this back again, I am definitely buying another one (or 10).

Remember how I said the holographic luminizer won’t make you look like an intergalactic disco queen? Well this one definitely will! Cover FX glitter drops in “Lunar” is what every space queen is wearing these days. It isn’t cheap but it’s also a lifetime supply- even for me. I usually apply it with my fingers but I think a beauty blender might work even better. You want a super thin layer of it spread on your finger or sponge, no big globs, and the lighter the touch you apply it with, the better. This is almost a highlighter to use over another one. I like to apply a pale cream to powder or cream highlighter in a C shape going from above my brow and swooping down to the tops of my cheekbones. To bring the glow full circle, I apply a dab to my chin, the bridge of my nose, and my cupids bow. Then I bring out my glitter drops and dab them along the tops of my cheeks. Oh and do you have tattoos? Because if you do, you’ll want this for every party! I have black and purple stars along my clavicle and I love putting this over my stars. People ask me if my tattoos are real almost every time. They look like a glitter tattoo. This comes in several other shades so definitely try them all out before you buy. You might end up buying more than one! https://www.sephora.com/product/custom-enhancer-drops-P409765?icid2=products%20grid:p409765:product

Back to the holographic! I love the brand Too Faced and their highlighters, so when they came out with “Diamond Fire” I was super excited to try it. Diamond Fire did not disappoint and it definitely lives up to its fun name. As I said, I like to use cream to powders as lipsticks and I like to use powders as eyeshadows. This is truly one of my favorite things to wear on my eyes. It works better than any eye concealer for waking up tired eyes. I like to apply it to my entire eye area with a big, fluffy brush. All you need to add is mascara and you’re ready to face the world wide eyed and awake. I also love applying powder over other highlighters. A holographic powder adds a new dimension to existing colors creating a super neat effect. https://www.sephora.com/product/diamond-light-multi-use-highlighter-P426850?icid2=products%20grid:p426850:product

This baby is the newest addition to my embarrassingly big highlighter collection. It’s also the first product I have ever tried by Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. I love it so much that I would gladly try other products from the brand. This color is appropriately called “How Many Carats?!” Like many glitters, this is something that I like wearing over other shades, but I have worn it on its own too and it has enough pigment behind the glitter to impart a lovely sheen. The glitter is very fine so it isn’t too overpowering, but it is definitely noticeable and it reflects light amazingly. As for on my eyes, I like to do a smokey eye and apply this over the whole look. It also works as a great highlighter for the inner corners of the eye. However you wear it, you’ll feel like a princess with this diamond dust on your face. https://www.sephora.com/product/diamond-bomb-all-over-diamond-veil-P85225585?skuId=2113033&keyword=how%20mnay%20carats
