Please don’t ask me how to pronounce that. Your guess is as good as mine. I think we could do a whole blog post on me trying to say it right. While my pronunciation skills may not be the best, my coffee skills are a lot better and this turned out way better than I expected.

I am personally not huge on avocado, but I have seen it used in brownies, frosting, and most recently, ice cream. While I’m not a huge fan of the taste, it’s the texture I really don’t care for, but as I looked at the unconventional things it was used for, I started to think maybe avocado could possibly have a place in my life. I had tried to incorporate it in small doses in a more conventional way such as in a wrap, but if there was any hope of me actually liking this super food, I had to start at coffee. When it comes to coffee, the crazier the better. I can sit and appreciate a simple cup of good black coffee, but I also get this spirit of caffeinated adventure where I have to try something I can’t even pronounce.
So how did I stumble upon Es Alpuket? Pinterest of course. I frequently type in “coffee recipes” and I saw an article about different coffees around the world. I can’t remember where this one was from off the top of my head, but I’ll put the link to the article at the end of this post.
As always, I didn’t follow the recipe exact. Once I learned about this, I looked at different recipes and I came up with my own version. It calls for condensed milk, but I decided to use “caramel” instead. I make the caramel by placing cans of condensed milk in a slow cooker filled with water for a few hours and letting it cool before opening it. I also found this on Pinterest and I’ll include a link to one ingredient caramel sauce too.

Using our beloved Nutri Ninja, I added my favorite cold brew coffee ever, caramel condensed milk, almond milk, avocado, and a little sweetener because I have to put sugar on my sugar. The Nutri Ninja comes with an “ultra blend” setting that I love. It takes one minute and it had my avocado completely smooth. I didn’t get a single chunk in my drink.

I truly couldn’t believe the thick creaminess of this drink. You can adjust the thickness by altering the ratio of milk, but the creaminess was truly WOW! It had a “green” taste to it for lack of a better word, but it wasn’t unpleasant. It was definitely different than anything I’ve ever tasted in coffee before, but I found myself not being able to get enough of this.
Also, I think I found the life hack to eating healthy foods. Find a way to put them in coffee, and I all of a sudden I love them. Since I mixed avocado with coffee beans isn’t this technically a salad recipe?

Avocado Iced Coffee
- 1 1/2 c. cold brewed coffee
- 1/2 c. milk or your choice
- 2 T. condensed milk OR caramel condensed milk
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- additional sweetener if desired
Place all the ingredients in a Nutri Ninja or regular blender and use the “ultra blend” setting or simply blend on high for one minute until the avocado is completely pureed. Pout into a glass with ice. If the drink is too thick for your liking, you can always stir in more milk.
